Hello – it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted here. This seems to be a common phrase uttered by me every few months or so.
I’ve enjoyed doing my weekly recap posts that I did in the past. I’ve really been wanting to seriously get into journaling as part of my daily practice. I’ve recently bought a 5 year diary from Midori (starting to take bets that I will stop writing in it by Christmas). I have always been excited at the idea of future me visually looking back at what I did in the past. I don’t see it as cringe; I see it as character growth.

MONDAY
Monday doesn’t have to be the doom and gloom people associate it with. I’ve been working in corporate for just over 4 years now and I find that I’m usually only dreading Mondays at the thought of going back to work for the week. It’s actually Tuesdays to look out for as Mondays can be quite slow-paced as you and everyone else is getting back to the swing of things. Tuesdays hit you.
My team decided to have a cute little luncheon. We went to Jacksons on George which is a pub in Circular Quay that has recently reopened removed of all its previous ‘dodgy’ character. We didn’t rate the food all too much but we enjoyed the vibes and my rigatoni with gin, tomato and fermented chilli was probably the best dish. Kind of wished I didn’t share now.
Of course, we had to walk it off with a quick ice-cream break. I had a pandan & coconut ice-cream and custard tart ice-cream. I clearly have been missing Hong Kong that much that I just crave custard egg tarts all the time.

TUESDAY
Started off the day with a really fancy eggs on sourdough with avocado, kale and pine nuts. I really didn’t need this and I also really don’t like kale (unless it’s in a smoothie) so I don’t know my thought process on this. I think I just really craved eggs.
To make up this fancy breakfast, I skimped out on lunch and thus, order was restored. My go-to lunch break fun activity is to go to Dymocks and have a look at all the books. Today was quite unmemorable – I probably spent a good hour scrolling TikTok after dinner.

WEDNESDAY
Received my Adidas Sambas and I absolutely love them. I’ve also been trying to sell pieces of my wardrobe on Ebay and Depop with varying degrees of success. I recently sold this Poppy Lissiman bumbag on Depop and couldn’t be glader to part from it. I can’t do this brand because every time I think of it I just think of all the high school girls who wear this. I am really trying to adopt slow fashion and having timeless, high-quality pieces that I know I will get a lot of wear of.

THURSDAY
How good are half working days? After finishing work at 12, I took my mum to Zushi in Barangaroo. The food and atmosphere were immaculate. We loved the fresh oysters with chilli ponzu vinaigrette and the sashimi platter was divine and so fresh. We had some drinks as well – a cocktail for me and a glass of champagne and sake for mum.
Afterwards, we had a stroll through the harbour and went to Mecca to smell perfumes that are the price of someone’s weekly salary. We ended the day with some hazelnut and cappuccino ice-cream at Venchi and a crème brûlée crepe at Uncle Tetsu. They only sell crepes from 3pm at a limited quantity and I’ve never had the opportunity to eat one before. The line wasn’t too long and definitely worth a try but it didn’t completely blow me away.

FRIDAY
For the life of me, I couldn’t think of anything of interest that happened today. For dinner, Mum had cooked Chinese steamed fish which is one of my favourite dishes. There is something so aromatic about spring onions, ginger and soy sauce. To make up for this lack of photos, this is a short list of some of my favourite Chinese dishes:
- Peking roasted duck – yummmmm
- Hot pot
- Salt and pepper pork – will always get this at a restaurant
- Dim sum
- Pretty much all wontons/dumplings but preference is fried. Shanghai pan-fried buns are chef’s kiss
- Pretty much all noodles but how good is beef-noodle soup with some chilli!

SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Started the weekend with a swim at the gym followed by sushi at Sushi Hotaru . I’ve passed this numerous times but have never eaten there and I craved sushi so badly. I am such a sucker for grilled salmon nigiri but unagi nigiri (eel) is a close second. Whenever I’m in the Galleries I have to check Kinokuniya which is this massive Japanese-based bookstore.
I haven’t purchased from Mecca for a while but I noticed that the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops finally restocked. I had to cave in to the hype because who knows how long stock would last. I’m excited to try this for the summer for a more sun-kissed look. I also purchased the Summer Fridays lip balm in Brown Sugar. It smells so good. I’ve not the biggest fan of Summer Fridays – I find their products a bit meh but their packaging is on point and I always need lip balm so I caved. Sue me.
