Tesalate Beach Towel Review – Is it really sand-free?

November 12, 2021

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Finding the perfect beach towel can be difficult. I usually find them too bulky that take too much space or worst just make everything around you sandy. If you find this an issue, Tesalate may be your solution.

*I was kindy gifted this by Tesalate but all my opinions are my own

Tesalate began when founders Jacky and Volkan went for a cheeky swim at a secluded beach in Sydney. They realised they’d have to head back home with their wet, heavy and very sandy towels (which is gross). They started questioning the performance of beach towels and were inspired to create the Tesalate beach towel. From selling at small markets in Sydney to selling worldwide, you may have seen Tesalate pop up on your Instagram before and always wondered if it was worth it.

Tesalate towels are built with AbsorbLite™ fabric which claims to deliver sand-free, ultra-absorbent, super-compact and rapid-dry tech for simply better beach days.

I decided to pick the The Alchemist – Sand-Free Towel for Two (not affiliate link). I gravitate towards neutral colours and prints but I was just drawn to this. It is very summery and perfect for the beach. I also picked up the larger towel because it was just the perfect size for the beach and picnics allowing adequate room if you wanted to share the towel with someone else.

Sand-Free

This is probably the biggest and most important claim that Tesalate makes. This is what makes this towel stand out from other towels. It would be horrible and misleading if this wasn’t true.

Luckily, this towel really is sand-free. The sand repels from sticking onto the fabric and is so easy to shake off. This makes the process of packing up and leaving the beach ridiculously easy – it almost feels like it’s too good to be true.

Compact and Light

The towel is really thin and does not have a lot of volume meaning that it makes it really easy to fit into your bag. All Tesalate towels also come with a little pouch to put your towel in.

I really like how big Tesalate towels are without comprising on weight. All large towels are 160cm x 160cm and the single towels are 160cm x 80cm (which is still such a good size).

I really enjoy swimming at the gym and am always in the look out of a towel that is lightweight because no one wants to carry a big fat towel that takes up the entire space in the bag. My gym does offer towels on arrival at a premium but I don’t want to pay that making Tesalate towels the perfect large towel when showering. Tesalate towels also have a hook so you can hang it anywhere which is a really handy yet subtle feature.

Absorbent and Quick Drying

Tesalate towels are microfibre towels meaning that they are absorbent and quicker at drying that regular beach towels. Tesalate towels claim to retain over 1L of water. I want to clarify that these towels will get wet but with their rapid-dry technology, these towels will absorb small inconveniences away (excuse the pun).

Multi-purpose

Tesalate beach towels are not just for the beach. As stated, they are perfect for picnics and for showering. They are also the perfect companion for travelling. When I travelled around Europe, I found that space was paramount (Still thinking about the frustration of trying to pack into one tiny suitcase because hell no to paying for extra luggage that defeated the whole purpose of flying cheap). Tesalate towels are light and compact making it perfect for travelling. I am getting huge travel inspo and FOMO from this picture.

Fun Designs

Tesalate towels come in so many fun and colourful designs. I struggled to pick a pattern because there were so many. All Tesalate towels also come a reversible black and white triangular pattern making it a 2 in 1 towel.

Price and Shipping

Tesalate towels are a bit more expensive than regular cotton towels with prices starting from AUD $89. Shipping was incredibly speedy but I also do live in Sydney. Shipping is also free for Australia and the USA. Tesalate also have a relaxed returns policy allowing you to return it or exchange it for free even if you have used it.

Whilst it is expensive, I think doing a cost vs benefit analysis is beneficial. For me, a lot of Tesalate’s benefits were things that I was already looking for in a towel.

My sentiment with a lot of Instagram brands/ads are that a lot of it is overpriced dropshipping crap but Tesalate literally blew me out of the water and proved me wrong. These do really live up to their claims. I really do think these are a great investment and will reinvent the way you go to the beach and travel.
