I love visiting antique and charity shops. Not only do I love a bargain but I also love finding exciting items and there are plenty at Mitchell Road Antique & Design Centre. Mitchell Road Antique & Design Centre is a 2,300 sq metre warehouse with traders, hobbyists, collectors, stylists, dealers and stalls. This is the perfect gem to visit on a quiet weekend.
Mitchell Road Antique & Design Centre
17 Bourke Road, Alexandria, NSW, 2015 (a 3 minute walk from Green Square train station)
You’ll find everything from vintage clothing to retro and vintage collectibles, furniture, homeware and lighting. This place is absolutely massive. I wanted to pop in as I was in the mood for visiting an thrift shop as this was near the gym but I literally spent upwards to 1.5 hours just navigating this place.
Give yourself enough time to explore and I promise you’ll have a good time. The collections are eclectic and the staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond.
I did not come out with the most exciting thing as I had planned to go to the gym afterwards. I’m pretty happy with this find though as an avid Simpsons fan. A comic book from 2002 in pretty good condition (a little dirty on the front cover but absolutely intact inside) for a tenner.
I really liked how all the comic books were wrapped in plastic to keep its condition. I feel like a lot of thought and care has gone into the curation of these items which I think is fantastic.
