So Sydney is back into a lockdown again. It’s been a while since Sydney has been in a strict lockdown and we’re only allowed out for essential purposes. Panic buying for groceries is back in full force (the toilet paper shortage of March 2020 still gets me).
I honestly think I saw this lockdown coming after the increased cases from the Bondi Cluster and the stupid ground zero limousine driver who refused to get vaccinated but worked in a high-risk job dealing with international arrivals. We can’t solely blame him but rather the incompetencies of the government. Almost 50% of the US population is now vaccinated whilst it’s less than 5% here. It’s a joke.
It’s important to stay home to save lives and abide rules and restrictions. I know the frustration. With 2 weeks of lockdown, it can be easy to waste these 2 weeks away and just hope for freedom again. It can be easy to just lay on the couch and watch Netflix all the time.
Struggling with what to do in the Sydney lockdown? Here are some productive things to do indoors that won’t waste your time.
Think about both short-term goals that you want to achieve within the next 2 weeks as well as longer-term goals. This will shape the way you live your day-to-day life and how you want to prioritise certain aspects of your life. Set yourself up for success and a glow-up once this lockdown ends.
For the next 2 weeks, I really want to focus on my health and fitness. I’m doing intermittent fasting and doing a workout every single day.
Reading is a great way to escape from the current reality that you are in. It’s also great to step away from the online world for a bit. Reading is also incredibly beneficial – it improves knowledge and I also feel that it helps reduce stress for me.
I’m currently reading 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B Peterson.
Practise nail art
This is something I really want to nail (pardon the pun). I bought an at-home gel nail kit on Amazon during the first lockdown as a way to save money on getting my nails done. I’m not great but I’ve been really enjoying the simple minimalist nail designs I’ve been seeing all over Pinterest and Instagram.
I often struggle to make time to cook during the week. I really enjoy cooking. I’m not great but it’s a way to improve my cooking skills and even being experimental and trying new flavours and ingredients.
Homemade pizzas are some of my favourite to make and are super easy to make.
Am I making you hungry?
Start a new creative project
I was always interested in working with resin and so I gave that a go. I really liked how some of pieces turned out. I’ve also really wanted to get into pottery so I might buy some clay and experiment with that. I enjoy being creative and experimental.
I’ll be using this time to also work hard on my blog as well. As much as I adore my little website online, I am struggling to commit to it and finding what direction I want to take this in. Whilst this website is monetised, I would love to be able to make a liveable passive income out of it.
What things have you been doing during a lockdown? Have you felt more productive?
For anyone living in Sydney, we’ll get through this Sydney lockdown. We’ve been in it before so we know we can do it.
