The Ordinary is known for its affordable skincare products that contain ingredients that scientifically are known to improve your skin complexion. I’ve been looking for an affordable everyday cleanser in like forever and so I had to try this out. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser retails for $13.50 AUD. Personally I’ve never felt the need to use expensive cleansers. We all know that expensive skincare does not always equate to better formulation. I also find the idea of buying an expensive cleanser only to wash it off sounds a bit counter-intuitive.
Meet the hero ingredient in this cleanser which is squalane. Squalane has numerous skin benefits including further hydration and firmness to the skin and reduction of redness and irritation. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin types. The cleanser is also said to clear pores.
The first thing you’ll notice is that you are required to put the cleanser on dry skin. The texture of the cleanser comes out almost like an oil consistency. This is atypical to most cleansers so liking this cleanser may just be due to personal preference. Some people may prefer soapy cleansers.
However, it feels very smooth and soothing on the skin and leaves no residue. I find this cleanser works amazing for removing makeup. Personally, I find it difficult to find a cleanser that removes makeup well so I was thoroughly impressed. Seeing all the grime come out was really satisfying but also really disgusting haha.

I noticed a significant improvement in the size of my pores with just only a week of using this cleanser day and night. However, this could be attributed to other The Ordinary products since I’m trying to do a review. I have oily and sensitive skin due to my eczema and this is definitely gentle enough for sensitive skin. This cleanser did not cause any irritation and redness for me.
There are reviews that the cleanser is not very cost-effective as it is only 50ml and can be used up quickly. However, you only need the smallest amount per cleanse. I rarely finish off products so I don’t think this is going to be an issue for me.
My skin feels so smooth and soft after use. I’m so ecstatic that I found my everyday cleanser with the colder winter months coming ahead. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser is an excellent and affordable buy if you’re looking for an affordable cleanser to suits all skin types.
