We all have had our makeup smashed. Broken makeup sucks. Whether it’s an eyeshadow, highlighter or powder. I’ve had some of my favourite makeup smash such as the NARS Orgasm blush. When I order online, I’ve noticed that sometimes my eyeshadow palettes can be quite loose and really prone to breaking. The Colourpop Going Coconuts eyeshadow palette is highly rated. Unfortunately, I don’t use this at all because 2 of the eyeshadows have smashed and it is impossible to travel with it as a palette on the go.
However, I’m here to solve all your issues with a simple trick that works! The secret is isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
Here is what my Colourpop Going Coconuts eyeshadow palette looks like.
I never reach for it because it’s broken but the quality is great and it’s a really versatile and excellent everyday palette. I recommend buying this.
To fix the broken makeup all you need to do is add a few drops of rubbing alcohol onto the broken makeup. Optionally, you can use a spoon to spread the contents evenly.
Press the makeup firmly with a tissue to bind the makeup together and evaporate the alcohol. A higher concentration of alcohol will dry faster. If possible, leave overnight to dry but I only left it dry for a few hours. The pigmentation and texture was still just as good as before.
I even tried it on another eyeshadow palette. This is the Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette by Fenty Beauty in the shade 1 True Neutrals. I am so glad that rubbing alcohol did the trick. This is a great compact eyeshadow palette for travelling with and I’m happy I can use this again. Whenever I have broken makeup, I’ll be using this simple technique! The results are amazing!
You’ll never need to throw out your broken makeup again. Rubbing alcohol is cheap and readily available and can be used for other things as well. I use left over rubbing alcohol to clean and disinfect hard surfaces.
