It can be difficult to spend non-essential items during a pandemic. Luckily, drugstore makeup is very affordable and can be of great quality. I wanted to share some of my favourite drugstore makeup items.

NYX Tame and Frame Pomade
In my post reviewing classic cult beauty products, I recommended the NYX Tame and Frame Pomade as a good dupe to the ABH Dipbrow Pomade. I use the shade Espresso. Whilst, the ABH Dipbrow Pomade gives a more striking bold brow look, NYX Tame and Frame Pomade is far more natural and wears well and lasts long.
If you’re not a fan of pomades, the NYX Micro Brow pencil is a great drugstore alternative. I also love the Maybelline Brow Satin Eyebrow pencil. I love the pencil and powder end more. The powder makes the brows look really fluffy, light and natural. I’ve purchases this pencil so many times (but beware because the pencil is very prone to breaking).
Essence Make Me Brow
Essence Make Me Brow is of a wetter consistency which means it holds the brows better. It shapes and sets my brows really well and there is a lot of product. I’ve yet needed to repurchase but I definitely will be running for a replacement when it runs out. It literally only costs $5 in Australia so get on it. For comparison, the Benefit Gimme Brow is $45 for LESS product.
L’oreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte Cover Foundation
This was my holy grail drugstore foundation for years. I’ve definitely gravitated towards other higher-end foundations now but the L’oreal Infallible Foundation is a solid drugstore foundation which is great for oily skin gals like me. It is medium coverage and matte and lasts long. Don’t think it is 24 hours coverage as it advertises but who is wearing foundation for 24 hours?
NYX Perfect Filter Eyeshadow Palette – Golden Hour
I don’t really own many drugstore palettes and I’m not including Colourpop in this as it’s not easily accessible.
I think the NYX Perfect Filter Eyeshadow Palette in Golden Hour is a really simple neutral eyeshadow palette which is perfect for everyday wear. The shadows are pigmented and long-lasting.
I’ve recently bought the Makeup Revolution x Soph Extra Spice Eyeshadow Palette. I am so impressed with the quality and uniqueness of the shadows. It’s definitely one I would recommend.
ELF Baked Blush
I think this blush looks really pretty on the cheeks but depending on the shade like Pinktastic it can also double up as highlighter. It’s a really nice subtle yet glowy blush/highlighter.
I also really love the Milani Baked Blush but it can be very pigmented so if I’m not careful I’ll look like a clown.
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner
This was the first eyeliner I ever purchased so it’s the nostalgia for me. Whilst it does not compare to my holy grail eyeliner KVD Beauty Tattoo Eyeliner, the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner is still smudge proof and long-lasting. It produces really clean lines and overall it’s not a bad eyeliner.
L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara Waterproof
Sometimes I feel that mascara isn’t such asn important thing for me. It’s likely to irritate my eyes and I normally wear glasses so people aren’t even going to notice my lashes anyway. Due to the nature of having to replace mascara often for hygiene reasons, I was pretty much only using drugstore mascaras. I do notice the difference of a higher-end mascara. For example, I love the Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara. It separates my lashes so nicely and there is no smudging.
However, I do find that the mascara is hard to get off. It can get ‘clumpy’ but I find that if you slowly put on the mascara, it’s not too bad.
Here is the final look.
