With the easing of covid-19 restrictions in San Diego, it’s time to think about dating in San Diego. San Diego is filled with amazing bars, restaurants, beaches and nightlife. I wanted to share a few cute ideas that are perfect for dating in San Diego.
Cute Picnic at Balboa Park

Balboa Park (pictured) is such a beautiful park and an absolute must see in San Diego for tourists and locals alike and perfect for an outdoor date in San Diego. It’s filled with cute picnic spots, gardens and nice walks. Bring a rug and a charcuterie board and enjoy the summer warmth.
There are also restaurants and museums and even a symphony to check out.
La Jolla

La Jolla is a really lovely seaside place in San Diego to check out as well. Check out the La Jolla Cove and have fun with the sea lions and seals. Walk along the scenic coastline together.

After that, head back up to the main road for a meal. Head to Galaxy Taco for a cheap Mexican bite or check out Catania (pictured) for an elegant Italian dinner and watch the sunset on La Jolla.
Enjoy the Beaches

Going to the beach is a more intimate yet free date idea for dating in San Diego. San Diego is famous for its sunny weather and beaches. Bring your own food and enjoy the scenery and people watch (my favourite haha).
Coronado Beach and Pacific Beach are really popular choices but my favourite (am biased) is Ocean Beach (pictured).
Ocean Beach is a lot smaller but it feels really intimate and I think the pier overlooking the beach makes it look so pretty. I remember having really deep chats at night with my friends or having a late night snack from a night out.
If you’re in Ocean Beach, try Hodad’s Ocean Beach. It is arguably the best burger in San Diego.
Eat at South Beach Bar & Grille for light snacks and drinks with views that overlook the beach.

Restaurants and Bars at the Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter is the heart of San Diego nightlife and perfect for dating in San Diego. Head out for a nice restaurant meal at Gaslamp.
The Gaslamp Quarter is known for Mexican cuisine. Try La Peurta (pictured) for street food tacos with a margarita (or two or three). For a more romantic vibe, try a steakhouse or seafood place such as Greystone Prime Steakhouse & Seafood.
Finish with dessert at Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop or Chocolat Cremerie. From gelato to sundaes to waffles, desserts are perfect for a romantic date and perfect to share.

From my previous post about dating in Los Angeles, I love rooftop bars. I think they are an amazing date night idea that can be played down as casual but also played up as really romantic and special.
Rustic Root (pictured) is a really cute and rustic rooftop bar in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter.
Rustic Root is known for American cuisine – you can’t go wrong with a mac n’ cheese or truffle fries (yummmm). Choose between cocktails, whiskeys, ales or wines. Altitude Sky Lounge is a club 26 storeys high with an amazing rooftop bar boasting amazing views of Downtown San Diego.

I really hope these date ideas have given you some inspiration for dating in San Diego.
San Diego Personals make it simpler to match with someone by suggesting you to people with similar interests and zipcodes. San Diego Personals might even suggest people in close proximity of the downtown San Diego area such as Chula Vista and La Mesa. This is great because you may have missed a match otherwise. Talk to each other about a meeting at a midpoint for your first date.
San Diego Personals‘s mission is to want all of the singles in San Diego to enjoy the fun of romance and happiness and I think that’s what we all want especially since we’ve all been in lockdown.
