Valentine’s Day is coming up which has been a holiday I’ve never cared about. I mean we don’t even get a day off for it so I’m not going to count that one haha.
If you are a Parks and Recreation fan like myself, you and I probably prefer Galentine’s Day. It’s the day before Valentine’s Day on February 13th which is a day for ladies celebrating ladies. In the words of Leslie Knope, it’s wonderful and it should be a national holiday. I love that so much more.
However, this year I feel a bit different. Whilst I’ve still lived all 23 out of 23 Valentine’s Days single, this year may be slightly different so yay for me.
I’ve thought about putting a little series leading up to Valentine’s Day about all things I associate with the day such as date night ideas, gift ideas and lastly, for this post, lingerie. I recently did a post about gift ideas for her and him for Valentine’s Day that is absolutely worth the read if you’re looking for ideas.
I’ve really gotten into lingerie recently. It makes me feel confident and beautiful which is what you should feel. I buy lingerie for myself. My dates or partner just get to enjoy it with me.
The title was a little bit of clickbait whoops. Definitely buy lingerie for yourself first and foremost. A bit NSFW but I find that men don’t particularly care what you wear. A nice lingerie set will definitely go appreciated but if you wore a pair of granny panties, no makeup and hair in a messy bun, they would still love you nonetheless (I mean they should – also I love a high waisted pant).
It’s definitely something I do for self-care and to make myself feel good and you should feel the same too. I’ve found a few affordable lingerie options that I am obsessed with and I wanted to list a few of my favourite lingerie brands that I would love to try.
Savage x Fenty
I have wanted to try Savage x Fenty so bad. Created by the one and only Rihanna, this line makes you look fierce. The lingerie looks so incredible. Something I loved about Rihanna’s makeup line (Fenty Beauty) was how inclusive it was and Savage x Fenty does this!
Something I dislike about conventional lingerie and fashion standards is how small sizing can be. I want Zara to take my coin but their lingerie only goes up to about a 34C. Savage x Fenty goes up to a 46DDD so can we just appreciate how inclusive this range is.
Lonely the Label
This is a brand I’ve wanted to try so badly. Lonely is a New-Zealand based label that celebrates the strength and individuality of women which is what I think lingerie is all about. I completely agree with their brand message.
For the same reasons as Savage x Fenty, I like Lonely because it very inclusive towards all women of different skin tones, body shapes and ages. I honestly love the range. It’s so feminine and sexy and I really wanted to buy something during their Boxing Day sale but it was all sold out.
Kat the Label
I love the lingerie from Kat the Label. They are an Australian-based lingerie label that is known for its lacy and feminine lingerie. This would be perfect to wear on Valentine’s Day.
It still covers a decent range but I would say it’s less inclusive than the other brands I mentioned. It goes up to a XL in the bottoms and a 10E/12DD-E in the top. I wanted to buy some lingerie during the Boxing Day sale and just couldn’t risk the no returns and not knowing it would fit because I usually wear a 14/16D. Honestly, it’s a real shame.
I’ve also collated a few other lingerie pieces that will make you feel confident and sexy. This definitely can be done on a budget.
In the words of Parks and Recreation, treat yo self!
