Monthly Favourites #1 [November 2020]

November 29, 2020

Reading Time: 4 minutes
monthly favourites november 2020 beauty dr martens life netflix beauty blogger

With November wrapped up, I’m just completely in awe that 2020 is almost over. I am so relieved that the year has gone so quickly. However, I’m also sad. I’m going to turn 24 next year and I feel so close to another quarter life crisis breakdown (again). I thought I would share some of my monthly favourites because there has been a lot I have enjoyed this month.

I love reading and watching monthly favourites and taking inspiration and recommendations from others and it was such a big thing back in OG Youtube and blogging days. So I’m bringing it back. I can’t promise to write every month (I think it would be very repetitive if I did) but I can’t wait to incorporate this into my blog.

Anyway let’s hop straight into my monthly favourites and I hope you enjoy!

Fashion

Dr Martens 1460 8 Eye Smooth Boots

16 year old me is SCREAMING! All I ever wanted was a pair of Dr Martens. As a teenager, I loved the grunge look, listened to the Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes and other indie rock bands and thought the NME was the shit.

My style has evolved a lot since then but with 40% off Black Friday deals I couldn’t resist – and I can not believe I own my very own pair! I’m so in love. The boots are so comfortable and look beautiful. For reference I am a size AUS 7 / EU 38 and I got the UK 5 (Dr Martens do mens sizing) and these were perfect. They are a little roomy. You are encouraged to size down but I would just buy your normal size. Don’t size up.

I also ended up getting another pair of Dr Martens (1461 Smooth) and my Black Friday shopping has not stopped there.

Beauty

Jouer High Coverage Liquid Concealer

This is not a new product for me – I’ve had this for a while. However, I’m recently been using it again and it is such a good full coverage concealer. It covers my eye bags and dark circles so well and it’s been such a saviour for my under eyes. It’s not cakey or drying and does not crease.

For reference, I have the shade Macadamia and I’m a NC25.

Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara

I picked up a Christmas gift set from Ilia and I’ve really been enjoying their mascara. It gives such amazing natural lashes and it does not smudge or flake at all. I also love how it separated my lashes.

Skincare

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

I am always on the hunt for new cleansers. I loved this cleanser mainly for how big the bottle is. The cleanser has grapefruit and papaya enzymes that lightly exfoliate the skin leaving it smoother, softer and brighter. I loved how it had exfoliating properties without being harsh on the skin. This cleanser is so gentle and works so well on my oily and sensitive skin.

Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Moisturiser SPF 30 Sunscreen

I mentioned this in a recent post reviewing Fenty Skin products. I enjoyed this one the most.

I loved how this was a 2-in-1 sunscreen and moisturiser. It is so important to incorporate sunscreen into our skincare routines. I used to only wear sunscreen when I went to the beach or 40 degree heatwaves but it’s important to wear sunscreen all year round.

The moisturiser is easy to apply and blends into the skin so quickly. The sunscreen does not leave a white cast and has worked well with my quick and simple morning face routine.

Hair

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day In Shower Styler

I’ve never been a big fan of heat styling tools. My hair is really long and I hate using the blowdryer because it takes forever. I’m also incapable of curling my hair with the hair straighteners at the gym because I am an idiot.

The Living Proof PHD In Shower Styler is designed as a styling product without the use of heat styling tools. You put a small amount through your hair after your shower and rinse (I don’t) and just lightly scrunch your hair leaving you with nice styled waves with no frizz once air dried.

Lifestyle

Wellness Journals & Getting Ready for 2021

I recently mentioned a wellness journal I bought from Typo and it was so well-received. You can click here to read about it.

With a new year coming up, we all want to be more organised. I explained in that post about the importance of self-improvement and wellness. It works as a diary but it also has really nice features such as goals, habits, gratitude, priorities and monthly reflections.

I feel ready to tackle on a new year and become a better me and I hope you feel the same.

FINALLY Cancelling Netflix

We were on a break (been watching way too much Friends). I finally decided to cancel my Netflix because Australian Netflix is garbage (I know technically I could get around it with a VPN but the main reason I wanted to cancel was because I don’t have time). Paying $10 a month to rewatch Friends just wasn’t worth it and I find myself using Youtube as entertainment a lot more these days.

I probably won’t re-subscribe again unless there was something I really wanted to watch. Right now I’m so happy I’ve cancelled. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for months and made sure I cancelled before I was charged.

Update: I really want to watch The Queen’s Gambit and I’m thinking of re-subscribing to Netflix. Lasted me a good 2 days haha.

I’m so excited for December. All of us deserve a well-rested break to recharge and enjoy the festive spirit and our family and friends.

What were your November monthly favourites?

Amazing roundup! I’ve been after an SPF for ages now and that Fenty one sounds lovely, love that it’s a moisturiser too. I definitely need to start watching Netflix more or I may have to cancel mine too, as it’s just not worth it xx
