Christmas is just around the corner and I’m sure it will be a very memorable one given the circumstances we are living in at the moment. Move over white Christmas, it’s a lockdown Christmas this year.
As most of us are staying at home, why not think of a homeware gift this Christmas? I’m hopefully going to make this a mini series in the lead-up to Christmas. Christmas gift shopping is not easy. Especially for the *ahem* people you don’t know really well. Like if I got something like chocolates I wouldn’t be too pleased. Unless they were Lindt or Ferrero Rocher because they are my favourite and delicious. No debates haha.
I feel like with homeware items there is always going to be some use out of them which is what you hope out of a Christmas gift.

When I was at the Glebe markets (Glebe, Sydney) I stumbled upon a stall that sold ceramic vases with dried flowers and I instantly fell in love. All of them were homemade and one-of-a-kind. I really appreciate the uniqueness of the product and it makes it a really unique Christmas gift idea.

Trust me guys – I was so indecisive about which one to get. I mean I usually am indecisive anyway. It usually takes me at least 10 minutes, at least one discussion with the waiter and one look at Instagram to decide what to eat.

They are so unbelievably gorgeous. I really liked the vase of this one. It had really earthy tones to it and I love the pink and purple flowers.
These are from a small business called Tassia Castello. If you’re ever in Sydney, it’s worth having a browse at the Glebe markets. I’m not sure if she regularly has a stall but it’s always a fun day strolling through the markets anyway.
Here is her Instagram: tassiac.creations
And the best part – they only cost $30 making these a really affordable but special gift idea.

In my post ‘Why Buying a Wellness Journal/Planner for 2021 will Transform Your Life‘, you will notice this vase in the background. I blooming love it.
I really want to take a pottery class now after this. Some Tinder guy told me once that they could see me do pottery. I don’t really know what this means haha.
Another place for Christmas gifts and ceramic vases is Etsy. Etsy is a marketplace for a lot of small business owners. I’ve done a little browse and found some really good sellers.

Based in Toronto, Canada (dispatches from the US), this store has so many beautiful and unique vases to curate your home. They also do really affordable shipping to Australia. It costs only $6 and I’m not going to promote a store that I can’t even buy from. Shipping only takes 1-3 weeks.

Ceramic Minimalist Bending Vase
This is so unique and really avant-garde. I really like the neutral and earthy tones and these vases are sure to complement any home.

Minimalist White Ceramic Vases
These are so beautiful and look really high-end. It looks so elegant and would really elevate a living room space.
These vases have all had good reviews mostly about shipping time, price and the good condition it came in during transit.
This is a London UK-based seller with a wide range of items on Etsy including ceramic vases, pots and even Christmas baubles for that Christmas cheer.

This is a really beautiful gift idea and great for the holidays. I really like the sustainability concept behind this idea by using recycled class. Recently I saw a TikTok of a girl having her small business by selling rings by using recycled silver spoons and it’s such a gorgeous concept.
I can’t tell if the flowers are included. None of the reviews mention it and it never explicitly says the flowers are excluded. The bud vase I mentioned at Glebe came with flowers so I’ll just double check before buying.
Conclusion
There are so many wonderful small sellers you can buy from this Christmas. Many of these sellers make an attempt to be more sustainable and innovative and do all they can for you to be a loyal and happy customer. Small businesses care about you and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences ordering off Etsy.
Hopefully, this has helped you with gift buying.
This is such a lovely idea and I love how you’re shouting out a small business near you xx

Thanks Della! I’ve been seeing so many bloggers write about small businesses and Christmas gift ideas so I was definitely inspired by that. It’s so important to think of our local small businesses especially during this pandemic xx
Oh the dried flowers are so pretty! What a cute and thoughtful gift! it’s nice you were able to browse the markets and see and buy one 🙂
Hope you are having a great weekend 🙂 We went out and did more Christmas shopping yesterday which was fun 🙂
Browsing market stalls is one of my favourite activities and so fun on a relaxing weekend. Glad you had a great weekend as well 🙂

Thank you for reading Radi! I really love home decor as well. 🙂
Hey Clarissa, I love how unique those vases are! I am a fan of dried flowers, and I had over a dozen arrangements scattered around my tiny apartment at one point.
My favorite flowers are actually banksias! The last time I was in Australia, I was so excited to see them in the wild. They aren’t as pretty as the store-bought ones, but it was still interesting to see how they look like in the wild!
I’ve been to Sydney, but never heard of Glebe market. Is it any good, and what do they specialize in? Perhaps, I should give it a look the next time I’m in Sydney! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Ming! Thank you for reading!! There isn’t anything particularly special about the Glebe markets. They are a weekly Saturday market and there’s a few of them. I like going there. A lot of the stalls are bought by people who just want to make some extra cash by selling clothes, shoes, DVD, etc but I find that the food stalls tend to be regulars. I guess it’s a mix but it’s really fun to have a look around and have a chill day and maybe buy something really cool
Also how cool are banksias? They’re such a unique shape 🙂
