Hi everyone! An end of a month means time to reflect and find what I loved. You can use this site which links up your Spotify so you can have a deep analysis on your top listened tracks and artists. I’m tagging all these monthly music favourites as personal as I think my music taste is quite niche and I know it’s not for anyone.
This month was a lot about discovery which is actually my favourite when it comes to music. I love discovering new artists and new music.
This took the crown for my most played song by a mile! I think I found this on recommended on one of my playlists and been in love ever since. This is such a sultry song and perfect to play to chill or study to. That’s probably my justification to why I’ve played it so much since i work 9-5 (more like 9-5 then 9-11pm). July has also meant busy season for where I work since financial year end is end of June. Love that for me and not getting paid overtime because we’re adulting because we’re on a salary. I miss the days where I would work with absolute bare minimum effort (looking at retail).
This song is absolute fire.
This guys is going to blow up – mark my words!
I am a huge fan of neo-soul and most people don’t know that about me. I remember vividly how I found out about this song. My train was maybe about 2 stations away from mine and on Spotify, recommended songs show up below your playlist. Accidentally clicked on this and the rest is history. I listened to it about 2 days straight on repeat and hence why it’s so high on my list.
I am so shocked this song and artist is not getting any coverage (5k followers only on Instagram is actually a crime with someone whose voice is as amazing as his). This song is so silky smooth.
This live- holy. Again, less than 600 views on Youtube? And actual crime. Brb. Moving to Camden, London and hitting up all the jazz cafes with a cocktail in my hand after a long working day all day every day.
This song is such a bop! I expected nothing less from AJ Tracey. I feel like this 100% would be played at something like JD Sports or some sneaker shop (pretty much every comment in the Youtube video haha- definitely read my mind).
This song is really solid. I included it because whilst it still gives quite chill vibes, it’s a little different to the soulful stuff I listen to.
My opinion? UK rap is better than US rap.
Not even close to an AJ Tracey favourite, but Rain (w/ Aitch) is a pretty good song too that I’ve been listening to regularly. I think it’s ruined by Tik Tok and it feels weird seeing Addison Rae dance to it lmao. Also hitting the woah to AJ feels weird too – smh.
Whilst I love chill R&B and soul and rap, I also love deep house. I think 90s house is a guilty pleasure of mine and this song is no exception. One of my favourite 90s house song is actually an Australian song (yay). Don’t Call Me Baby by Madison Avenue. You’re welcome.
It makes me wonder what it would have been like to be a young adult in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Like Ibiza in 2000 was so different to Ibiza in 2020 – you know what I mean? Completely carefree and sunkissed and without social media. Just people dancing and living in the moment. What a concept!
This Latin house number makes me want to dance all night and all summer and not want it to end. Very nostalgic.
I’m pretty sure I Shazamed this at the gym and I came to the realisation that I pretty much know every CamelPhat song just by going to the gym. If I hear Panic Room one more time-. Jokes. I think I’m just scarred because I associate Panic Room with holding a deep squat for 20 seconds.
This song is a banger! I could totally see CamelPhat play at Budapest at the Sziget Festival after hours at like 2AM for a late night rave. The adrenaline and buildup in this song is actually amazing and I really appreciate it. We don’t condone drugs on this blog but man- this would be really good to vibe to on a substance you know haha.
This is more so for me but below is my Spotify playlist which basically has all the songs I mention on this blog. It’s got my tick of approval and I’ll love for you to give it a listen. Feel free to give it a follow!
Anyway until next time,
