Night Time Skincare Routine Winter 2020

July 5, 2020

Reading Time: 4 minutes

I hope you all are having a lovely day! The lockdown during the pandemic has shown me the importance of self care meaning that having a consistent makeup and skincare routine is still really important.

It was fun to wear sweatpants 7 days a week and not brush my hair, do my makeup or wash my face or shower (I know – really gross). However, it took a heavy toll on me and I really needed to step up my beauty game.

When I am following my beauty routine, not only do I feel more put together and feel better, I am also treating myself with respect and kindness. In a world that is becoming increasingly unpredictable and scary, my beauty routine is something that I can control and it is something that I can experiment with and experience joy, happiness and confidence.

My Skincare Routine Products from Left to Right

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream

Pixi Glow Tonic

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream

Foreo Luna Play

Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

Before we all go off being like sheesh Clarissa- these are some expensive products, are you sponsored? Firstly no, but I have learnt that investing in good skincare is very important. This is not to say to only buy expensive skincare. There are some excellent affordable options but I have really enjoyed all these products I mentioned. Plus, all the Drunk Elephant products I mentioned are sample/travel sized.

I highly recommend buying a gift set or a travel size product to really get a sense of the product and brand- especially if the brand is expensive. For my Australian readers, MECCA has a Drunk Elephant set called ‘The Littles’ which retails for $131. This is amazing value and you can test 7 products including the 3 I mentioned in my skincare routine. Highly recommend!

For US readers – Sephora

For UK readers – Cult Beauty

Cleansing

My dumb logic was if I bought an expensive tool such as the Foreo Luna Play, it would encourage me to not neglect my skincare routine and boy did that work. Whilst I don’t think this is necessary (definitely a bougie buy- I am sure you can find a dupe on Amazon or somewhere) but I love how gentle this is on my skin and it cleans my skin so well. It’s also really fun to use which is a plus. I also feel like this has made a difference in minimising my pores (my pores is something I am self-conscious about).

The cleanser I use is from First Aid Beauty which I received as a sample from Sephora. It works great on my oily, sensitive skin and also removes my makeup and any dirt. In saying that, I’m not sure if I will repurchase as I have a lot of other cleansers I want to test out but I do like this.

Self Love Honey (Masks and Toner)

One thing I am really loving in iso is face masks. These are the ultimate symbol of self care (also a requirement if you’ve read my about me page *wink wink*). I have been loving the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask. Firstly, I love face masks with charcoal because charcoal helps with getting rid of excess oil and can help minimise pores. This mask was also a sample size in part of a set but I would definitely purchase the bigger version next time. It has really helped with my pores and works well with my sensitive skin.

I will follow this up with the Pixi Glow Tonic. I use this toner for night (I use the REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Toner in the day which I also love). This toner says it exfoliates the skin for brighter, clearer skin and I definitely see this. The smell of this is also really pleasant and it works well for my oily, sensitive skin. I definitely think it’s worth the hype.

Serums and Creams

I am really enjoying the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. It makes my skin so soft and i just feel like it makes me glow. You also need the tiniest amount for your face so this mini size bodes well with me. I would highly recommend this.

I follow this up with the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream. This is one of the bestsellers on the MECCA website and for good reason because this product is amazing! This really does remind me of whipped cream (which is also bad because I want to eat it) and has an excellent thick consistency to it making my skin soft and moisturised. Despite it being thick, it doesn’t feel oily at all.

I also use the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. My under eyes are a huge self conscious problem of mine and I’m yet to really be sold on a skincare product. I haven’t used this product too much but it does help brightening my under eyes.

I would love to know what skincare products you’ve been loving recently. Share them below!!

I use the Foreo and the glow tonic and they have been really good, but during the season change, I have to switch it up frequently.
