Welcome to my Best and Worst Of series where I review a particular make-up brand and review what I like (hits/best) and what I disliked (misses/worst). Today, I’ll be talking about NARS.
NARS BLUSH IN ORGASM
I love this blush. It’s my holy grail of blushes always and forever. It gives the perfect pink natural rosy glow on my cheeks whilst being very buildable so you only need the smallest amount. I can’t forget blush in my makeup routine because I’m missing the perfect natural rosiness this product gives.
You can read my review post on the NARS bronzer in Casino. I love this bronzer. It is not orange at all, very long-lasting and I love the bronzed effect it gives to my medium NC25 skin. I really like how this bronzer shapes and frames my face that works both for everyday and night-time/glam wear.
NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCILS
I don’t really use these anymore but I really like these lip products. They are really creamy and apply beautifully on the lips without clinging onto dry patches. There is also a great nude shade range. Bahama and Bettina are probably my favourites. They are a great my lips but better shade (mauve-y) and thus, perfect for everyday.
This is very on brand with NARS. It’s simplistic, aesthetically pleasing and it feels really high-end. I know lipsticks aren’t very inventive but I don’t see many lipsticks looking like this and I kind of like this slender design.
The one con with this product (besides the price) is that you need a sharpener to sharpen these pencils. However, the sharpener is obviously multi-use because you can use it on other products and even your pencils haha.
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
This concealer is really nice, light and creamy. I like using this for my under eyes and small blemishes. So why is this a meh?
The reason why this is a meh for me is because I just don’t think this concealer stands out or is particularly amazing. For the price I am paying, I just want more out of it.
There are so many concealers from other brands that do just as good a job and aren’t crazy expensive. So, I will probably not repurchase this.
The NARS concealer is $48 and is 6.5ml. That is $7.38/ml.
The Too Faced Born This Way concealer is $46 and 15ml. That is $3.07/ml.
NARS SHEER GLOW FOUNDATION
Controversial? We love an honest opinion. I tried a sample of Punjab and I fell IN LOVE with how it looked on initial application. It applied really nicely and I felt snatched. However, at the end of the day it just came across very oily and not pleasant but I also have oily skin.
This review of the foundation on the Mecca website sums up my opinion of the product perfectly. It’s really refreshing to know you’re not alone in an unpopular opinion of a product that is universally loved.
I went back to Mecca to get another sample of Punjab because I am not fully committed to buying the full product but I want to love it so bad because I LOVED how it looked on me when I first put it on.
This is lowkey a bit rich of me to say because I personally don’t own any NARS eyeshadows but they just all seem a bit overpriced for what they’re worth? I mean for the price of a NARS eyeshadow palette, I could get something at Anastasia Beverly Hills that is of amazing quality (Modern Renaissance is -chefs kiss- beautiful).
This is actually something I think about most high-end brands, not just NARS, but their eyeshadows just don’t look very pigmented. NARS eyeshadow pans also look extremely tiny. I personally don’t think I will be buying any NARS eyeshadows anytime soon.
Hope you enjoyed my Best and Worst of series. I had a lot of fun writing this and I will do more in future (got plans for Fenty Beauty, Huda Beauty and Anastasia Beverly Hills).
I would also love for you to subscribe to my posts (bottom of this post or my sidebar) so you can get notified of when I upload new content or even better, my monthly newsletter (on my sidebar or top of my homepage) where I will be delivering an exclusive newsletter all about my favourites for the month and inspo.
