Hello everyone! I’ve finally decided to create (another) blog and I thought my first post would be great to introduce myself in a fun way. I found this website that has a 371 Random Get to Know Me tag so I thought I’ll pick a few to share. I love sharing personal tidbits every now and again especially because I feel a lot of people don’t really know me (both in my real and online life). I present to you an interview with me interviewed by me. I promise you I am not narcissistic.
Where were you born?
I was born in Sydney, Australia. Born and raised.
If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to? (i.e. what would you name a baby girl)
My name is Clarissa and whilst I like how unique and nice it sounds (thanks mum and dad), I’ve often wondered what it would be like with a different name. Girl names I like in particular are: Charlotte, Chloe, Mia (not a fan of the name Amelia but I like Mia lol), Freya and Francesca.
What is your biggest fear?
I live in Australia so I’ve grown tough skin- spiders don’t scare me. When I was younger, I was really scared of dying but I’ve learnt to not worry about things that are inevitable. I would say my biggest fear is not accomplishing as much as I would like to in my lifetime. I really want to move to the UK within the next 5 years as living abroad has always been a realistic dream of mine.
Who is your favourite musician(s)?
I’ll list a few artists that I have been listening to a lot recently: Clairo, Mac Ayres, Winston Surfshirt, Omar Apollo, Wallows, etc. I am really into the bedroom pop, chill R&B vibe.
What is your favourite drink?
My go-to at a bar is a rum and coke (Long Island Iced Teas are pretty good though) but I can’t say no to a good cocktail or margarita. I take that back- I love white wine and rosé. Lock that in.
Have I given it away that I love a drink? (or two)
Are you a dog person or cat person?
Dog person but I don’t own any pets.
Do you have a tattoo?
Yes I do – it’s on my ankle on the inside of my left leg. It’s a small floral design shaped in a heart.
I went through a rough patch in my life so it symbolises love, family and strength. It was very spontaneous. I definitely would be open to getting more in the future.
PS. For anyone who is thinking of getting a tattoo on their ankle, it isn’t too painful. It’s more of a numbing than painful reaction (sort of like going to the dentist).
What is your most used swear word?
Fuck. Fuckity fuck. There isn’t any censoring on this blog. I like being my most authentic self but I hopefully won’t be swearing in future.
What is your star sign?
I was born in late April which makes me a Taurus and I feel like it describes me very well. I am very stubborn but loyal. I also feel very down-to-earth especially since Taurus is an Earth sign. I love to chill and I love to eat more.
What is something you wish you were gifted at doing?
I really wish I was good at music. I played the violin for a while during school but I sucked. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I tried getting into DJing and producing music with very little success. I definitely have a lot of admiration for musicians and artists whether that be playing an instrument, singing or being a good DJ.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Morning person 100%. 5:30AM alarms to go to the gym don’t annoy me anymore. I just love being productive and getting more out of my day and I feel really good. Don’t come for me.
What language, besides your native language, would you like to be fluent in?
Anything. I am not even fluent or even that conversational in Mandarin (my background is Chinese). Although I would love to learn Spanish. I tried French in high school. I was terrible.
What medical conditions do you have?
Bit of a personal question- but let’s do it. I have eczema which is a skin condition. It definitely does not affect me in my daily life and has been so much less disruptive as I have gotten older. It was the worst during primary and early secondary school with frequent doctor visits.
I also had asthma as a kid (I don’t need an inhaler anymore). I also am pretty confident I have a deviated septum. I don’t wish medical conditions on anyone! To those that do, I see you striving and thriving- you’ve got this!
What was your first job?
Everyone’s first job was like a coming of age. Mine was McDonalds. I hated it and quit in 6 months and made no friends lol.
What dreams have you given up on as unrealistic?
When I was younger, I wanted to be in an indie rock band preferably drums or bass guitar or backup vocals and tour the world and live a lifestyle that mimicked Alexa Chung circa 2010 with Alex Turner (lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys).
Then I realised I would never be a musician let alone even be famous.
What are some of your bad habits?
Not thinking before I say something.
If you could give your younger self any advice what would it be?
Love yourself and do things just for you. Don’t listen too much about what other people say and don’t think too much of what other people think of you.
When was the last time you cried?
Reading Normal People by Sally Rooney. Yet to watch the show but I bet I’ll be in even more tears.
Do you see the glass as half empty or half full?
Honestly, for the most part I would say I think I see it half empty. I think there have been many times in my life where I have been greedy and wanted more or was jealous about something I didn’t have.
I am trying to practise gratitude and appreciate what I have in life.
Lastly, let’s answer some random ones.
Pick one, Nike or Adidas?
100% Nike. This is coming from someone who lived in their Adidas Superstars. Sorry Adidas.
Pick one, summer or winter?
This is a really hard one because I like both but I think I may give the edge to summer because the atmosphere is so nice and uplifting. Plus we can go to beaches and sit in parks and watch the sun set at 8pm.
Pick one, chatting or phone call?
Chatting. I don’t like phone calls. I feel weird because I feel most people my age call others and Facetime but no I don’t like doing all that. Text me and I may get back to you in 3-5 business days?
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this. It was really fun for me to pick out questions to answer.
